This is the JELAWAI tree, one of the tallest trees in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. It sheds all its leaves once a year, and for a period of time, is completely leafless before the new leaves emerge. When I saw this Jelawai 2 weeks ago, it was leafless. Now the new leaves are budding. I guess even trees go through sanctification week!
