He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:15-17)
Charles Swindoll says in Living Above the Level of Mediocrity:
Isn’t this a wonderful section of Scripture? In all these things, Christ is the centre. He is in things, He’s through things, He’s holding things together. He’s the glue that makes stuff stick together. He put the stars in space, and their movement is exactly according to His soverign chronometer, precisely as He arranged it. And everything out there hangs in space exactly as He set it up. His problem is not with planets in space, however. His wrestling match is with people on earth who have been put here but want to go their own way.
Always be full of joy in the Lord. Always be glad because of the Lord! Rejoice in the Lord always. Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! I will say it again: REJOICE! (Philippians 4:4 - various versions)
