Youth Volunteer Involvement Programme (YVIP)

Are you bored during the holidays and want to MAKE A DIFFERENCE instead?

Do you want to make more friends during the school holidays?

Have you always thought of volunteering but have been too afraid to do so? Here's your chance! If you're between 15-19 years old, YVIP '07 is just the right thing for you. Organized by the Student Volunteer Corps, YVIP has introduced students to volunteering, developed their passion in making a difference, and equipped students with basic volunteering skills, since its inception in 1989.

YVIP '07 is open to students of all schools and consists of a camp, agency attachment and a grand finale:

4-day /3-night Camp (4 – 7 December 2007)

Participants will attend creative workshops to introduce participants to basic volunteering skills and enhance their self-development. Participants will also get to interact with one another and form friendships with other volunteers through team building games.

Agency Attachment (10 - 21 December 2007)

After the camp, participants will attend an attachment programme at various Voluntary Welfare Organizations (VWOs). This attachment is activity-based (with about 3 – 5 activities). During this attachment period, students will be able to interact directly with the beneficiaries. Some of the past activities organized have included excursions, treasure hunts, cooking competitions and comic opera performances. This attachment programme benefit both the VWO and the student participants.

Afterglow (29 December 2007)
Afterglow is the grand finale of YVIP where participants will be given the opportunity to share their volunteering experiences and be orientated to various VWOs which will benefit from their involvement. Participants are highly encouraged to continue volunteering. Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive certificates of participation.
